COVID-19 — — — A Pandemic
After the H1N1 flu (2009) the pandemic disease Covid-19 is hitting a very high proportion of population globally and blocking the world as the disease is viral and keep on spreading by interaction of people. So keeping distance and limiting interaction is considered as first precaution against Covid-19 and it is implemented as lockdown in the countries like Pakistan, Philippines, Italy, Spain, Germany and Denmark.
Corona is a Latin word which means ‘crown’. When this virus is examined under microscope it is seen that it consists of genetic material that is enveloped by protein spikes which give it the crown like appearance. The virus was first seems to be detected in Wuhan(Chinese city).
The symptoms of Covid-19 includes:
· Fever
· Cough
· Loss of smell and taste
· sore throat
· fatigue

Out of 1.3 billion people home India , 17.64 cases of Covid-19 has been reported. India is suffering from the scarcity of oxygen and hospital beds. At Delhi’s India Spinal Injuries Centre, the chief of medical administration Dr. K Preetham report the scarcity of oxygen as they are forced to put 2 patients on 1 cylinder and India have to turn hotels and ashrams to hospitals but the death rate reaches 2 lac.
Many countries have come forward to overcome the scarcity of oxygen. Britain support by 100 ventilators and 95 oxygen concentrator and France provide oxygen that can be supplied to 250 beds. Pakistan, Philippines, Italy, Spain, Germany and Denmark are resorting to lockdown to limits the proliferate of Corona virus.
World Economy smacked by Virus
The world economy also being smacked as thousands of people has to obstruct their business due to lockdown execution and social distancing. About 3.1 million deaths has been reported globally due to Corona virus.
About 65% of Philippines national economy hit by Covid-19 pandemic. About 4.5% GDP loss has been forecasted.
Covid-19 economic relief package has been passed by congress to cover the loss of covid-19 in United States.
Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine
At one side when the world is being affected economically and socially by the corona virus there is a grim of hope in the form of AstraZeneca Vaccine. Oxford AstraZeneca develop the vaccine for Covid-19 but there is witness of some side effects in rare cases as well.
Vaccine is not seems to be work completely but better a poor horse than no horse at all. Whole world is rushing to get it because it is at least 50% effective. Many countries including Germany, Italy, Ireland, and Spain allow vaccine only for people under 60 while Denmark has stopped it completely.
More than 757 million vaccine doses administrated globally. Following statistics shows deaths due to corona virus and doses of vaccine given in most hit areas.
Global experience shows that social distancing is the major preventative measure against covid-19, use of sanitizer and mask is implemented strictly in the countries under covid-19 catastrophe. Vaccine has been started to supplied globally in the Covid-19 hit areas. Hopefully the virus will be overcome and soon the world will be reactivated on its daily track.
